If you scan your fingerprint when your Mac is locked; your Mac will unlock.

If you scan your fingerprint when your Mac has a password prompt opened; your Mac will enter your password. Your Mac automatically knows if there's a password prompt on the foreground, so you don't have to worry about anything.

All of this is done over Bluetooth 4.0 LE,

Bluetooth 4.0 LE is very energy efficient, but still drains your battery life. But by thinking again about how Bluetooth connects and how it works, we developed a new way to reduce battery life. It never drains your battery at all, because the only second that there's a bluetooth connection, is the second that you scanned your fingerprint. After that, the Bluetooth connection will be dropped automatically.
